Conversation On High School Days Long Past
Settling into the booth in a casual steakhouse restaurant, they order drinks. Eating and drinking were not the main reason for this gathering of old friends though. They wanted to catch up on what each had been doing for the last ten years.
Ten years ago, all three had graduated from high-school together and now they were here for the reunion. They knew there wouldn’t be much time for quiet conversation at the party tomorrow night. They were gathered together tonight to talk to each other about old times.
Ted began to reminisce about the football, basketball and baseball games he had helped the school to win. He went on talking about the night he saved the game by shooting a basket just as the buzzer sounded. He had had some success on the football team too, making touchdowns as quarterback.
Tony had been the love magnet. All the girls had been interested in going out with him and one even asked him to take her to the prom. He wanted to chuckle over the fact that he dated more cheerleaders than Ted, even though Ted was the football hero.
Tim was an easygoing guy who hung out with his friends and enjoyed whatever activity was planned. He wanted to reminisce about those summer days when they all rode their diamondback bikes along the track that led to the swimming pool. After competing with each other for the best exhibition diving of the day, they laughed and talked all the way back home.
Yes, the three Ts, as they were referred to by everyone, were back together if only for a weekend. All divorced now, they spent a little time tearing down their ex-wives. Tony said Jeana had tried to cut up his clothes with a knife set someone gave them for a wedding gift.
Tim and Ted had divorce stories too, but much less drastic than Tony’s. In fact, Tim actually missed his ex-wife. She had been justified in divorcing him since he been involved in an affair with another woman from work. He really regretted losing her.
Since none of them wore those men wedding bands that bind any longer, they hoped to meet some old hotties from high school days. They predicted who would still look like a movie star, who might be a little bit chubby and who married who. They finished their third drink and ordered dinner as they tried to predict how the party would turn out tomorrow night, and who they might pair up with before the evening ended.
